The Power of the Mind

Mind Over Matter

"Mind over matter" is a phrase that first appeared in The Geological Evidence of the Antiquity of Man by Sir Charles Lyell (1797-1875) in 1863. It talks about the rising status and advancement of the minds of both animals and man throughout the history of the Earth.

This phrase was then made popular around the 1960s-70s. During this time, it was used to refer to psychokinesis, (the ability to move things with your mind) and other paranormal phenomenon, with the belief that the mind is more powerful than the body. The term was commonly used to describe how a person can avoid pain by simply using the power of his or her mind.

Today, “mind over matter” refers to intuition, ESP, the power of thoughts, and positive thinking. When you are able to visualize and think positive thoughts, anything that you want to accomplish can come true.

Earlier I mentioned very briefly what visualization is. Visualization is using the power of your thoughts in order to manifest your desires. To further illustrate what this means, let me share this story with you:

I had a client who was having trouble with the company she started. She’s in the retail business, and her concern was that she wanted to increase the sales of her company despite the hard economic times. I told her about the power of visualization. I asked her to meditate every morning after waking up, and every night before going to bed, and to focus on the things she wants to accomplish for her company. I told her to be very detailed about the mental images she visualizes. A month later, she came back to me and told me that almost everything she imagined for her company happened. Their sales improved by 12% from the previous month, her employees seemed more confident and happy about their work, and the complaints they got from both loyal and new customers decreased by 7%. She couldn’t believe it! This is a great example of how the power of visualization works.

This story shows you how powerful visualization really is! It is even possible to manifest what you desire in only a few hours, or days, depending on the desire!

The Science Behind Visualization

Every time you visualize something that you want, your memory bank builds cells of recognition. Doing this creates several things:

1. You become more conscious of everything that helps you achieve your goal.

2. As you consistently focus on the image that you have created in your mind, each cell in your body becomes engaged in that image. The frequency of that image will resonate with everything that is in harmony with it, whether it is in the physical or vibrational realm.

3. Your mind likes solving problems. It will do everything it can to resolve the discrepancy between the reality that's in your mind, and the reality that is happening around you. So if it's riches and wealth that you are visualizing, your mind will subconsciously guide your body to do everything it can to make this vision come true.

4. The vibration of the image in your mind moves you towards the manifestation of the desired image. This is because once an image is impressed into your subconscious mind, the image becomes fixed, and you automatically attract that image which you desire. This is what is meant when you hear that your mind works like a magnet.

Visualization Is For Everyone

Visualization techniques are also used by athletes as they spend time visualizing the perfect shot, winning the race, or becoming the champion. This helps condition their mind to make their body automatically respond the way they want it to, without any conscious effort. By doing this, they become unconsciously competent at what they do. Research has shown that those who visualized their success did accomplish their goals!

This is not only true for athletes, but for anyone who wants to be successful in any field. As long as you keep visualizing what you want, your body will do everything it can to turn that image into a reality. Your outer world will mirror the image you have in your head, and everything you desire will be manifested.

So choose your thoughts carefully and start visualizing now. As Bob Proctor said, "Whatever your mind conceives, the body can achieve."
