What is Mind Over Matter?

"Mind over matter" is a phrase that first appeared in The Geological Evidence of the Antiquity of Man by Sir Charles Lyell (1797-1875) in 1863. It talks about the rising status and advancement of the minds of both animals and man throughout the history of the Earth.

This phrase was then made popular around the 1960s-70s. During this time, it was used to refer to psychokinesis, (the ability to move things with your mind) and other paranormal phenomenon, with the belief that the mind is more powerful than the body. The term was commonly used to describe how a person can avoid pain by simply using the power of his or her mind.

Today, “mind over matter” refers to intuition, ESP, the power of thoughts, and positive thinking. When you are able to visualize and think positive thoughts, anything that you want to accomplish can come true.
